Testing out the new crossing.
Date: 7/17/04
Kent, CT:
CAMA's narrow gauge railroad tracks extend southward.
On July 17, we finished driving the last spike on the 74 lb rail south of the new crossing.
There's nothing left to do except to try out our new track.
So...we hopped on the Plymouth and tested our handiwork.

Switching to mainline
  ABOVE:
After firing up the Plymouth, she was taken off the siding and out onto the mainline. Then, with a stout prybar, the track is switched to the mainline.

   On the new crossing
ABOVE:
On the new crossing for the first time. After picking up a side-dump ore car, we backed across the new crossing. Ahh, there's nothing like the smell of diesel smoke mixed with the odor of fresh creosote from the new ties.

new end of the line
Saturday's CAMA volunteer track crew posing at the new end of our line. Many thanks to ALL of our CAMA volunteer track crew members, and again, thanks to John Hanlon and the Housatonic Railroad track crew that made taking this picture possible!
